Let’s get summer ready – the gut-brain healthy way!

Summer is already here! Are you ready for it? 

The sun is shining across the UK, with forecasts of 25+ degrees coming up. Now is the perfect time to think about your plans for the summer. But …are you still worrying about that ‘summer-ready’ body?

Every summer, there are many unrealistic expectations to be ‘bikini-ready’. So let’s forget all about these and set new rules. We’ve done a little brainstorming session here are CG – and here is what we decided our summer bodies are going to be: 

  • Happy! 
  • Confident! 
  • Healthy! 
  • Nourished!
  • Active! 

 Are you ready for it? Here are our top tips to focus on to keep your summer body healthy and happy:

1. Boost the diversity

You have trillions of bacteria within your gut, and they’re all unique in their own way. They also thrive on all different types of fibres – so diversity within your diet is key. But what does this look like, in real time? 

Think about all the possible fibres you could eat. Fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and grains – plus beans and legumes!

2. Everything in Moderation! 

Did you know that the average person only lasts six months on a diet3https://www.webmd.com/diet/obesity/features/how-to-stay-on-a-diet? If you’re one of these people, you’ll know exactly why. Fad diets are hard, exclusive, and take out all the fun stuff!

Don’t worry – we don’t like them either. 

Instead, here at CG, we LOVE the 80/20 rule. This means keeping to a healthy, wholesome diet 80% of the time, and allowing 20% to splurge on treats. What better way to stay happy over the summer, than allowing yourself to eat some of the fun things!

Keep in mind that delicious food doesn’t always have to be unhealthy though. Try some of these delicious Choc-Orange energy balls for a cheeky sweet hit.  

3. Establish a routine

Your gut bugs thrive on a good routine (like us). They also anticipate when you’re about to eat! Having a consistent routine over time is best – just like maintaining your garden at home.
