“Kills 99.9% of germs!”. But should you really be killing that much?
When you see the claim this “kills 99.9% of germs” claim, it doesn’t guarantee that the specific bacteria or pathogen you’re concerned about is among them. The truth is, not all bacteria are bad. In fact, some of the good bacteria living on our skin are essential for keeping it healthy. The long-term effects of some of the chemicals found in antibacterial soaps are unknown. These ingredients are for killing the bacteria on your hands, but that isn’t necessary. Studies have shown that using plain soap is just as effective for getting rid of germs as antibacterial. Both soaps are able to lift away the bacteria, but regular soap does so without the added chemicals.
This is why we started making our own natural soap bars by hand on the farm in small batches. All our soap bars start out with a base of goat’s milk and our own award-winning probiotic kefir. These are nice hard bars, long-lasting and full-lathering. Read on for the differences between natural soaps and antibacterial…
